The Brockman 2 mine is an iron ore mine located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, 60 kilometres north-west of Tom Price. The mine is fully owned and operated by Rio Tinto Iron Ore and is one of twelve iron ore mines the company operates in the Pilbara.
The Greater Brockman Area is experiencing an ongoing accommodation shortfall, which requires the expansion of the highly utilised accommodation camp ‘Jerriwah Village’ to enable more staff to have accommodation closer to their work site.
As part of the Jerriwah Village Expansion Project, Decmil has been awarded the contract for the Camp Upgrade Phase 2 A works. The project involves the installation of client-supplied accommodation modules and design, supply and installation of associated infrastructure works for the Jerriwah village expansion.
The project is located at Brockman 2 at the Jerriwah Village site. The site is approximately 34km from Boolgeeda Airport and 102 km from the town of Tom Price, in the West Pilbara Region of Western Australia.
Decmil’s scope of works includes:
- installation and commissioning of 48 client-supplied accommodation modules, 2 single-floor laundry modules, new gymnasium facility including veranda structures, walkways, service lifts, and staircases
- installation of a dedicated laundry hub with shaded deck area
- design, supply, and installation of a new multi-sports court
- design supply and Installation of a BBQ facility & Smokers huts
- design Supply and construction of new linen shed
- refurbishment of the existing gymnasium
- civil and earthworks including trenching for underground services
- detailed earthworks, landscaping and associated infrastructure
- installation and setting up of client-supplied furniture
- installation and commissioning of electrical distribution and lighting system and
- installation and commissioning of CCTV and communications system
- main potable water distribution and sewer reticulation to sewer pump pits.
