This design and construct contract involved the replacement of two existing bridges over an environmentally sensitive swamp area. All bridge construction had to be undertaken without contact with the swamp and entailed very detailed environmental management plans.

The bridges crossed Yallock Creek and an adjoining swamp. Due to the very sensitive ecological and environmental nature of the creek and swamp, we chose design and construction techniques which offered minimum disturbance to the existing environment.

This included no construction equipment travelling over existing ground surfaces.

To remove the traffic off the existing bridge and still maintain access across the creek a temporary Bailey bridge was installed, which spanned over approximately 75m.
