The S01 metering station Connection Upgrade Project involved the installation of a switching manifold to allow for the switching of the custody transfer meters and overpressure protection skids feeding the BPP1 and RBP sales gas pipelines, and an additional second flow metering run to the BPP1 metering skid.

The project centred on a number of major challenges including zero hot works, site access only during scheduled shutdown periods and the absence of field measurements prior to contract award.

To achieve the required schedule, the works were divided into 9 workpacks to be completed during each shutdown. The first included construction of concrete blocks and trenches to support future pipework. The following 6 workpacks consisted of mechanical fabrication and installation of pipework and skids. Remaining workpacks consisted of electrical instrumentation and installation corresponding to each mechanical workpack.

34 tie-ins were completed over 4 days and 3 night shifts. All works were completed safely, to a high standard and on time to ensure no delays in production start-up. The team were credited for their planning and communication in achieving positive outcomes.

The scope of work was extended to include tie-ins to P02 and E07 facilities.
