This contract involved the construction and commissioning of the Cape Preston Airport.

The scope of works included bulk earthworks, airfield pavement construction and surfacing; excavation and construction of all drainage channels, sediment control items and flood mitigation works; supply and installation of aeronautical ground lighting circuit and controls to include pavement edge lighting, PAPI, three illuminated Wind Direction Indicators, apron floodlights and Pilot Activated Lighting control devices.

Works also included supply and installation of terminal buildings and other associated structures, access road construction and flight testing and commissioning the airport. For this project Decmil reviewed power usage, and redesign of drainage and road seal to save on construction costs.
