In July 2020 Decmil was awarded the Construction Contract to deliver safety improvements on the Bruce Highway, Gin Gin to Benaraby, as part of the Bruce Highway Upgrade Program.

As Queensland’s largest road infrastructure program, the Bruce Highway Upgrade Program aims to improve safety, flood resilience, and capacity along the length and breadth of the highway between Brisbane and Cairns.

The improvements on the Bruce Highway Project (Gin Gin to Benaraby) will deliver safety benefits for all motorists who use this section of the Bruce Highway and ensure this key route can cater for future traffic growth.

The project will improve safety for all road users, improve travel times, journey reliability and increase regional connectivity and economic growth.
This contract involves high priority safety works including road widening, wide centreline treatment (WCLT), barrier installation, clear zone clearing and culvert replacement and rehabilitation.

The project includes installing about 12km of wide centre line treatment, upgrading intersections at Logan Road and McAuliffe Road, constructing a new overtaking lane near Forestry Road and installing safety barriers.

The project includes:

  • Constructing a new northbound overtaking lane near Forestry Road
  • Widening the road to incorporate wide centre line treatment
  • Clearing the roadside to improve visibility and safety
  • Upgrading intersections and property accesses.
