Golden Beach State School is a growing school servicing the Sunshine Coast North district in Queensland.

As part of the Building the Education Revolution (BER) Program, Decmil was commissioned to deliver a new multi-purpose hall as well as an extension and renovation to the existing library.

The facilities included:

  • An assembly hall with stage and adjoining storage areas
  • A new life skills Classroom
  • Seminar and multimedia rooms
  • Junior learning area
  • Science and technology room

Works required relocation of the existing play area, removal of asbestos from the existing resource building, and additional verandas and covered outdoor areas.

To overcome the challenge of working within the constraints of adjacent buildings, Decmil (formerly Bellero Constructions) also modified the slab design on the multipurpose hall for improved buildability, allowing easier cranes access and tilt panel installation.

Constructed over the school term and during school holidays, Decmil completed the projects on time and under budget, with minimal disruption to the day to day operations of the school.
