The Matilda John Multi-Well Pad Project was a trial conducted by QGC to allow multiple Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) wells to be drilled into the surrounding coal beds from one surface location.

This trial was purposed to overcome the limited space and access of some well site areas.

Decmil was contracted to pioneer the trial installation of 4 C-Type separators with interconnected gathering to form a single pad K-Type well site.

Scope for this project included vessel and skid remediation, fabrication and supply of interconnecting pipe from Decmil’s workshop, pipe supports, cable tray and E&I installation to boundary limits.

The project faced a number of challenges with respect to pad size reduction, change to client design concrete blocks, allowance for HV cable tray and well head spacing.

The project team worked collaboratively with the client to overcome these challenges through a total field fit design and additional night shifts to complete the project within a very tight deadline.
