The QGC Shell NDA (Northern Development Area) camp involved the design and construction of a 304 room temporary accommodation village, including supporting infrastructure and facilities, at QGC’s Northern Development Area, approximately 40km from Wandoan, QLD.
The camp has the ability to expand to 350 rooms with a rental period after construction of a minimum 18 month period, then reducing to 50 room permanent operational camp to remain onsite as the client moves further west developing coal seam gas fields.
Construction works included:
- Accommodation Buildings 300-pax beds
- Central and Resident Facilities
- Office Area and car parking facilities for light and heavy vehicles
- Long term-built Operations accommodation and office hub including outdoor Recreational Facilities
- Associated services.
Fast track design and delivery was required by the client, which Decmil delivered successfully with site establishment occurring in early June 21.
Stakeholder management was critical for camp operation commencement, with consultation with the camp operator and the client to ensure the operation of the camp was maintained whilst construction was ongoing.
