Decmil was awarded the contract for the Stage 1 construction of the new Port Hedland Sport and Community Hub Centre. Stage 1 consisted of three (3) separable portions, including a new community centre, carpark, internal roads, stables refurbishment, landscaping and surrounds.
With the location of the Community Centre close to the horse race track, the work was undertaken in three (3) separable portions to ensure the uninterrupted running of the 2022 and 2023 horse racing seasons.
- Separable Portion 1: Demolition, Retaining, Bulk Earthworks and Services: Demolition of existing turf club buildings and surround structures, construction of retaining walls stairs and ramps, installation of internal swales and associated drainage infrastructure, and upgrading and installation of site services.
- Separable Portion 2: Building Construction, Carpark, Landscaping and Surrounds: construction of new community building, construction of new carpark, and upper (building) level landscaping and surrounds.
- Separable Portion 3: Landscaping, Internal Road and Stables Refurbishment: lower (track) level landscaping and surrounds, construction of internal roads, and refurbishment of the stables.
