On behalf of MRPV, Decmil will be upgrading Yan Yean Road between Kurrak Road, Yarrambat and Bridge Inn Road, Doreen. The upgrade will build on MRPV’s Stage 1 to improve safety and traffic flow through Plenty, Yarrambat and Doreen.

The Yan Yean Road Upgrade Stage 2 – (North Package) works are located approximately 25km north-east of Melbourne CBD within the local government areas of Whittlesea and Nillumbik. The Project involves the design and construction of Yan Yean Road between Kurrak Road and Bridge Inn Road.

Decmil’s Scope of Works

Roadworks for the Northen Package involves replacing the Yan Yean Road/Bridge Inn Road/Doctors Gully Road roundabout with a signalised intersection and widening Yan Yean Road from one to two lanes in each direction. Works include site clearing and demolition, earthworks formation, deep strength asphalt pavement construction, and installation of roadside safety barriers.

Comprehensive drainage solutions include stormwater and subsurface drainage systems, flood mitigation treatments with major culvert crossings, Water Sensitive Urban Design infrastructure, and construction of retention basins and swales.

Supporting infrastructure includes utility service protection and relocation, bus stop relocations, pavement markings with raised reflective markers, road furniture installation, landscaping and urban design elements, public lighting and traffic signal systems with ITS devices, property inspections, shared user path construction, and concrete traffic islands with medians.

Work on site will commence in November 2025 and is expected to be completed by March 2027.
