The Yandin Wind Farm, officially opened in May 2021, is now powering businesses across Western Australia with affordable, clean energy.
Located in the wheatbelt town of Dandaragan, 175 kilometres north of Perth, Yandin is expected to produce more renewable energy than any other wind farm in Western Australia. With a capacity factor of around 50 per cent, Yandin will power the equivalent of approximately 200,000 households across Western Australia each year.
The turbines are among the biggest ever installed in Australia. At their highest point, the tip blades reach 180m into the air, and the rotor diameter is 150m.
This Design & Construct contract involved the engineering, procurement and construction of electrical and civil balance of plant works for the Yandin Wind Farm which comprises 51 turbines for the 214MW wind farm.
The scope of work included over 60km of roads and access tracks; over 30,000 m3 of concrete footings; 3,000 tonnes of reinforcing; 120 km of electrical reticulation; electrical switchrooms and high voltage substation with 1 x 230 mva 330 kv transformer.
Works also included more than 60km of access roads and wind turbine generators (WTG) foundations, crane pads and hardstands.
