Hanroy awarded Decmil this contract to upgrade 23km of Marble Bar Road to support new mine development operations.
The Marble Bar Road is a state public asset and is approximately 100km in length. The road supports HanRoy’s McPhee Creek Iron Ore Project, located in the northeast Pilbara region of WA, approximately 100km north of the Roy Hill Mine and 30km north of Nullagine. Primary crushed ore will be hauled by Hanroy along Marble Bar Rd from McPhee Creek to Roy Hill for processing and transport to the port. This new mine development will deliver up to 10 Mtpa of primary crushed ore to the Roy Hill Mine site for processing over a planned mine life of 15 years.
Upgrading the existing Marble Bar Road is therefore a key infrastructure component of this development, and the upgrade is required to enable RAV 10 haulage trucks to be used to haul the ore between McPhee and Roy Hill.
As part of this road development, Decmil will deliver Section 3A and 3B which comprises upgrading 23km of the road in accordance with Main Roads Western Australian standards.
Decmil’s scope of works includes all civil and earthworks, rock excavation, haulage of pavement material, sealed road construction, parking bays and driveways, road pavement and surfacing, stabilised pavement, and temporary bypass roads. Works include erosion and sediment control, installation of drainage structures and construction of surface drains, levees and surface treatments.
